Its been almost three months since we moved into our new place. The nice thing about this place is that it is closer to church where I am spending most of time during the week. Its just five minutes walking, very convinient for me and all my house mate. We love it and we are very thankful to God for providing it to us.

Hello Everyone

It has been a great experience to finish my first year at The Master’s Seminary. God has continued to fill me with His Great Mercies and Lovingkindnesses in various ways. Time has flown by rapidly and it’s like I just got here yesterday.

Thank you very much for pleading on my behalf before the Lord. Surely, the Lord has honored your petitions and intercessions for me. The Lord has brought me this far and His grace has been abounding everyday.

He has been my strength of my heart all the time even in the time of weaknesses. In time of various needs He has provided more than I have asked. He has sharpened my reading and writing skills. I still have a long way to go but am moving towards the right direction. He has incessantly deepened my understanding of scripture through different classes. He has also provided numerous ministry opportunities through which I am experiencing tremendous growth.

Just like first semester, I entered into the second semester not knowing what to expect. As days went by it was apparent that I would need to hold fast. As they say it here, “it was as if I was drinking from the fire hose,” have you tried it? Its one of the things you don’t want to try in this planet! Class load increased including the accruing ministry responsibilities. I had been praying for work and the Lord graciously provided but that meant more on my plate. For a moment I was scared, “How will I be able to do school and two jobs?” I prayed for God to enable me to manage my time wisely in fulfilling all of my responsibilities.

His faithfulness has continuously endured in my life. His grace has been sufficient for me. He has sustained me through difficulties of flipping thousands pages at a jet tour pace which was something foreign to me. The journey continues and more grace is needed, it is a high mountain. I still have more years to get at the pinnacle of my studies.

I realize am in a training field and it is not meant to be easy, it is expected to be hard and difficult. This is not a survival of fittest atmosphere; no one is fit to survive here. This is a survival by grace and grace alone will lead you to the end. That’s why your prayers are urgently coveted.

I want to thank you for your prayers; God has answered them in various ways. May the Lord continue to keep you well.

Christmas Festive

Last year was my first Christmas festive here in the US. It is interesting to see how serious some people are here when it comes to Christmas. Below are some of the pictures of Christmas lights which are hanged outside houses. Basically here when it comes to Christmas lights you are looking at two main issues, one is the artistic designs that are displayed out of Christmas lights. And secondly, you are looking at the content of lights that have to be used. Obviously the complexity of the design determines how many lights will be needed to be used. Many people put a lot of efforts, money and time. And when all is done, it looks stunning. In fact some of these homes are decorated to attract people to visit and marvel at the displayed skills in putting up these lights. I remember on Christmas night Danny, Laura, Alyssa, Parker, Regan, took me to a neighborhood known as Wakefield. When we got there we found traffic, it was even closing the main street. People in that neighborhood had done superb work. I had another opportunity to see other homes with James and his daughters (Beth and Megan). You can tell that some people are very passionate here when it comes to Christmas decoration. I will try to post more pictures, so you can see a little bit of what I have experience.
At home you hardly see someone putting Christmas lights outside other than inside the house. Christmas lights are used to decorate the interior rather than the exterior. Therefore Christmas decorations can only be seen by the house owner or who ever is invited in that house.
However as much as I have enjoyed seeing the marvelous skills applied in decorating these homes, I have also realized that there are many people (whether be it here or anywhere else in the world) who are preoccupied with the decorations and celebrations and forsake the main purpose of the event. Instead of being absorbed by the Man of the event people are obsessed by the event itself. They do not realize that this is not just about the day but rather it is about Jesus Christ whose coming is traced all the way from the Old Testament. This is about King. This is about the incarnate God who is with us, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign, Behold, a virgin will be with a child and bear a son and she will call His name Immanuel" Isaiah 7:14, "Behold the virgin will bear a Son and they shall call him Immanuel, which translated means, 'God with us'" Mathew 1:23, "For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us, And the government will rest on his shoulders, And His name will be called Wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of peace" Isaiah 9:6, "Now Lord you are releasing your bondservant to depart in peace, according to your word, For my eyes have seen your salvation" Luke 2:29-30. This is the time to tell the world of the coming King who came to save mankind from the wrath of God.

Last day of the first semester

Dear everyone,

It has been a long time without updating you of my life here in California. When I arrived here I just had almost one week of recovering from my flight which took about 34 hours including layovers. The following week we had three days of orientation. It was clear during orientation that once school starts it would be the beginning of busy life.

When classes commenced, it felt like days started becoming shorter. During the semester I had three days of classes (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), however each day of the week was used up for studies. I have never been this busy with studies in my life, where every second counts and time moves like a lightening. Yet the difficultness of the course cannot surpass the benefits of the training itself. I have learned so much in this past semester. God is opening my heart and my eyes each time am in class. There is always something new I learn. Something that has been there all along yet with my blind eyes and heart I could not see or perceive. Am like the disciples who their minds had to be opened to understand what Christ had been saying before his death Luke 24:44-47.

Right now I have just finished my first semester of my first year. It is as if I am dreaming that one semester is gone. And when I look back, I see is the hand of the Lord which has sustaining me. There were so many moments during the semester where I felt incapable of accomplishing the task assigned in class. But He has given me grace to take me through the end of the semester.

The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful church where I am able to hear sound teaching being taught and the gospel being proclaimed each Sunday. I am also thankful to God for the privilege of being involved in the ministry in this Church which gives me opportunity to serve and learn practically how to do ministry biblically. I am working with Junior High which is 7^th and 8^th grade. Right now our ministry has wonderful students who are hungry for the word. What intrigued me when I just got here was to see a loving and joyous welcome that I received from the students. And I have a great privilege to serve them as one of their leaders.

It was challenging for me to see how excited the whole Junior High Staff was to have me in Junior High ministry. I cannot emphasize enough, the love they have for me. There are about 30 staffs in Junior High ministry and they are all wonderful to work with them. Each one of them has something to teach me. I always look forward to staff meetings which are held every other Tuesdays.

My pastor in Junior High is currently going through the book of 1John and we in Chapter 4 now. His name is Kelly and his Vannessa. I hang out a lot with them and they are the ones who give the most rides. On the 5^th of December they took me for tour in down town Los Angels. We took a subway and we walked around town for about three hours and then we went back home. And last Friday they took me to a breakfast and then and I helped them out put up Christmas decoration in their house. I have enjoyed getting to know them.

It has been great to meet people that I met while I was in Africa. I have already talked to most of them. Some because of the largeness of the church I do not see them every Sunday. Some I see them every Sunday and they have been very helpful in helping me get settled. It feels nice to be in a strange land with people you know. Almost everybody who know me try their best to make sure I am well cared. I am overwhelmed with the love of the people in Church. I have also the privilege of getting to know new people with most of them introducing themselves to me. The biggest challenge for me has to keep up with the names of those who know me. I feel there more people that know me that I cannot remember their names.

I had three roommate but one left us a week ago and has moved to his own house where in a month he will be joined with his wife to be. We are very sad to see him go. Yet at the same we are excited for him. It is a privilege that God has given him to move forward. Currently we are three of us and we are looking for one more since that helps in cutting down the cost of rent.

It has been raining which is exciting for me because I missed rain. It is winter time here and some places it has already started snowing. According to what I have been told, it rarely snow where am living. Some days it is warmer and some days like today it is cold. Of course it is confusing for me because this is summer at home, but like any other thing else I am learning to adjust. I am still learning about Fahrenheit but I think am beginning to get it. This week has been pretty cold and today I saw a little bit of snow in the mountains.

Things so far are going well with me here. There are a lot of things going on but these are some of the things I can share with you at the moment. I hope this will give you a picture of my life in CA. I really miss you all and I pray for you.

Please pray that;

- We will be able to find another roommate soon.

- I will be able get more hours of work, I need more 10hrs during semester and right now I have 10 hrs.

- Preparations for the next semester.

- That I will be able to serve the student and my fellow staff effectively.
